Trisha Horman
Director of Accounting
My interest in accounting began when I started working as a backup bookkeeper for a local grocery store while I was in high school. I quickly found that I loved accounting. Through furthering my education along with mentoring by the controller, I have grown from an accounts payable clerk at a commercial fishing company to the accountant that I am today. Over the last twenty years, I have had several accounting roles in various industries, from the medical field and cement manufacturing to running my own business providing bookkeeping services and training staff for local small businesses.
Joining the True North team, I feel that I have achieved my career dreams of working for a company I love and am proud of. The True North team is really a family where every individual is working towards the same goal of providing exceptional service with integrity. I have a passion for accounting and love playing in excel. My role with True North provides me with the pleasure of managing and mentoring the accounting department. I oversee all accounting related duties to ensure accurate financial reporting. I may have taken the scenic route to get to where I am today however, it has been a wonderful journey to lead me to be a part of a team that feels meaningful.
I was raised to value integrity in myself and others, to work hard, and to care for others. I strive to have open communication and to be respectful in all my interactions. I value education and striving for self-improvement. Most of my values can be captured by my favorite quote, “It is nice to be important, but more important to be nice. Nice can be translated to respectful, honest, and caring.” I try to follow this and teach it to my daughter.
In my downtime, I love spending time with family, whether that is just my husband and our daughter or our extended family as well. In my self-improvement endeavors, I have overcome a deep-seated fear of the water. I now enjoy swimming and encouraging this joy with my daughter. I am an avid animal lover and have been a volunteer with a local retired racing greyhound adoption group since 2004. I love promoting these wonderful animals and will gladly chat about them to anyone who will listen. While life can get a little nuts with juggling everything, but I absolutely wouldn’t change a thing!
