DragonWear's Summer Guide to FR Workwear with Pro Dry Tech®

As the summer season emerges, it brings along longer days, scorching sun, and high temperatures. These conditions create significant challenges for individuals working in the trades industry, especially those who spend extensive periods outdoors, such as power linemen. In such situations, it is not only important to prioritize comfort but also to ensure safety through appropriate workwear.

Throughout the month of July, we are highlighting our best-selling Pro Dry Tech collection. This collection is known for its use of lightweight and breathable fabric, which offers an essential solution to the unique challenges faced by linemen. Working outdoors during the summer introduces hazards such as extreme heat, prolonged sun exposure, and inherent risks associated with the trades industry. Selecting the right workwear not only enhances comfort but also plays a vital role in ensuring safety in such demanding environments.

Common concerns for individuals working in these conditions that can significantly impact performance and overall well-being include:

  • Heat stress
  • Dehydration
  • Sunburn

Linemen and other trade professionals are required to protect themselves against electrical hazards, emphasizing that protection in flame-resistant (FR) clothing can be comfortable without compromising safety.

History of Pro Dry Tech

Over the years, we have designed some of our best-selling products based on feedback from our customers, and the Pro Dry Tech collection has been no different. While attending the International Lineman's Rodeo, one of our designers was approached by a lineman looking to improve the FR market with a shirt that had built-in UPF protection but also adhered to strict industry standards, as he had battled skin cancer.

Thanks to his feedback, we were inspired to develop the Pro Dry Tech collection.

The collection features:

    • CAT 2, 8.7 cal/cm2
    • Inherently flame-resistant
    • Patent-pending five-fiber fabric blend for optimal performance
    • UPF 50+ rated sun protection
    • Performance stretch in all fabric directions for ultimate freedom of movement
    • Superior moisture management and breathability
    • Enhanced wash and wear durability
    • Anti-microbial Silver Plus® odor control
    • 6.2 ounce fabric construction

When the Pro Dry Tech collection was first launched, we started with the long-sleeve and hooded styles in gray, marking the beginning of an exciting journey. Four years down the line, we have released three versatile styles catering to a variety of needs and preferences - long sleeve, long sleeve with a hood (men'swomen's), long sleeve hi-vis, and beanies

These styles are available in gray, navy, and rust for the hooded styles, gray and gray/navy for the long-sleeve style, and gray and navy for the beanies.

A hi-vis yellow long-sleeve shirt was recently added, and there is an upcoming release in khaki for both long-sleeve and hooded styles.

Protection

Built-In UPF 50+

Sun exposure is a significant concern for outdoor workers. All our Pro Dry Tech Shirts come with built-in UPF 50+ sun protection, shielding your skin from harmful UV rays and reducing the risk of sunburn and long-term skin damage.

CAT & Arc Rating

Unlike other materials, the protection in our Pro Dry Tech shirts can't be washed or worn away, ensuring you stay safe every day. They're certified to be a CAT 2 with an 8.7cal/cm2 arc rating, meeting strict safety standards.

NFPA 70E Certified

As part of our commitment to safety, Pro Dry Tech meets or exceeds industry standards for fire and arc resistance. This ensures you're protected from potential electrical hazards, like arc flashes, on the job.

Moisture Management

Excessive sweating is common when working in high temperatures, causing discomfort and leading to heat-related illnesses. Our Pro Dry Tech Shirts are designed with advanced moisture-wicking technology that effectively pulls sweat away from your skin, allowing it to evaporate quickly. This helps to keep you dry and comfortable, reducing the risk of heat-related issues while you work in hot conditions.

Heat Mitigation

Comfort is of utmost importance, especially when working in hot conditions. Our shirts are thoughtfully constructed using our unique FR Quad-Blend, which combines advanced materials to produce lightweight, breathable fabrics that allow maximum airflow and prevent heat buildup. The Pro Dry Tech collection also has a 4-way stretch feature, providing flexibility and freedom of movement, allowing you to work without any constraints, and ensuring optimum efficiency.

New Pro Dry Tech Colors

We are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our collection with new colors! On June 20th, we launched the highly requested Hi-Vis Yellow Pro Dry® Tech long-sleeve shirt. It has all the same features you love in the collection, with the addition of certified ANSI 107 Hi-Vis Yellow for high visibility and segmented silver reflectors that allow the fabric to stretch for the perfect fit.

Furthermore, this month, we are introducing the new khaki color, which will be available in both long-sleeve and hooded styles.

As you gear up for another summer in the trades, remember that your workwear is more than just clothing—it's a critical component of your safety and efficiency. Our Pro Dry Tech Shirts are engineered to keep you cool, dry, and protected, allowing you to focus on the task at hand without compromising on comfort or safety. Stay ahead of the heat and equip yourself with DragonWear's FR workwear this summer. Here's to a safe and comfortable season!
