Top 6 Things that Happened in 2020 - DragonWear Edition
1) WE RELEASED THE PRO DRY® TECH COLLECTION
Featuring 4 brand-new FR garments (LS Shirt, Hoodie, Face Mask, Shape Shifter), Pro Dry® Tech is a fabric technology that excels as a base layer. It features a familiar blend of our base Pro Dry® garments with a 4-way stretch for performance and built-in UPF 50+ sun protection making it the go-to base layer for warmer weather. However, that doesn't mean this technology doesn't work well in the winter as the moisture management and thicker CAT 2 construction keep you warmer and protected no matter the season.

2) SPEAKING OF INSPIRING IDEAS, YOU CAN NOW SHARE YOUR OWN
Listening and adapting to our user feedback is crucial in the process of developing the best PPE for the job. All DragonWear FR garments go through extensive field testing, NFPA certifications, and more to ensure that they live up to our core mission — to provide you with the "clothes you live in". In 2020, we created a feedback form on our website where you can share your product ideas directly with the design team and who knows, yours just might be the next one to hit the shelves.
3) WE LAUNCHED THE DRAGONWEAR RETAIL WEBSITE
In January 2020, we officially launched our brand-new True North Gear/DragonWear retail website. For the first time in company history, customers could now place orders through our website and have them shipped directly from our warehouse. In addition to more streamlined access to our inventory, the website also provides the ability to track orders, get immediate help from our customer service, and even leave product reviews.
4) WE SUPPLIED 500 FREE FR FACE MASKS NATIONWIDE
The shifting conditions of 2020 led to a sharp increase in the necessity for a new type of PPE in the workplace — facial protection. A large portion of our year was dedicated to ensuring that line workers across North America could work safely, but also comfortably with the added FR protection that the job requires. With deep appreciation to our talented team of product designers, we released 4 brand new facial protection garments throughout the year and supplied 500 free pieces of facial protection to line workers across the country.

5) ALL FLEECE IS NOW SUPER
Though Super Fleece™ was introduced in late 2019 with products like the Maxx™ Pant, a number of our fleece products had not yet been converted over to the new fabric. We're proud to announce that as of the new year, all of our previous fleece garments have now been converted (or upgraded, if you will) to DragonWear's proprietary Super Fleece™ fabric. This includes all jackets like the Exxtreme™ and Alpha™ along with their women's-fit counterparts.
Overall, Super Fleece™ is a more protective and wind-resistance FR fleece fabric. Made from a Tri-blend of inherent FR fibers, it provides superior warmth without bulk or weight, while remaining highly breathable, durable, and long-lasting.
6) CONTINUING OUR INITIATIVE TOWARD SUSTAINABILITY
Closing the Loop — it's a term commonly used to describe a fully sustainable production cycle from source to wearer. Lyocell is a fiber used in a large number of DragonWear products due to its incredibly versatile properties and of course, sustainability. Lyocell is derived from a wood pulp that is sourced from trees located in well-maintained and abundant forests; there is virtually little-to-no harm done to the environment to use it.
In addition to sustainably-sourced fabrics, DragonWear also recycles any unused fabrics whether it be for creating sample garments or from live production. You can learn about more environmental initiatives from our main brand, True North Gear, here.
We're excited to show you what the new year has in store at DragonWear and we wish you all a wonderful start to 2021.
P.S. - We'll be kicking off 2021 with a new webinar series for our dealers on the topic of layering for winter and the benefits, both comfort and protection-wise, that it offers to workers. If you're a dealer and you're reading this, you can sign up for either Wednesday, 1/20 or 1/27 here.
